About
Nicole Polak is an emerging artist from Mexico City whose work connects biological aesthetics with personal and sociological reflection. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Visual Arts at Carnegie Mellon University (Class of 2028). She draws inspiration from her experiences as a Mexican woman in relation to a constant internal struggle. Her ideas emerge from her personal context but become broadly relatable thanks to her abstraction of human experience. The visual language of this work is rooted in biology not for its objectivity, but for its metaphorical potential. Polak uses visceral aesthetics to provoke intense discomfort, eluding abstract reasoning in an attempt to illustrate the feeling of alienation. Common motifs in Polak's practice are internal cavities and human anatomical structures as visual elements that dissect the literal form of the human body's functions and allow for a cathartic experience.

Polak's work at Arte Capital decodes the gorgeous, clever designs of the world around us to inspire better ways to build and create. My pieces show that looking to life itself is the greatest path to healing living in beautiful, lasting balance.
Exploring the depths of catharsis through abstraction, Polak's exhibition at Mexico City's "Art Week"captivated art enthusiasts, allowing for them to interact directly with her in a solo booth.
